Anyone logging into their Google Merchant Center accounts today may likely be surprised by an entirely new and fresh looking UI that does away with the "eternal dark mode."
And, just to reiterate, this seems to purely be a cosmetic update (or "upgrade" depending on your feelings towards the older Merchant Center UI) but it is one that makes navigating Merchant Center a lot prettier.
Below you'll see the new version:
A stark contrast to its predecessor:
A Big Few Months for Google Merchant Center
As we've seen, time and time again throughout the years, Google dishes up quite a few changes to Merchant Center - sometimes multiple times per quarter.
In December of 2020 alone we saw not only the official naming come out for Free Product Listings and Buy on Google which is now viewable under Growth > Managed programs, but also the launch of customizable reports and dashboards as well.
Those were only the bookends to a most interesting year for ecommerce at Google what with the release of Free Product Listings, Buy on Google going free, and let us not forget the launch of free and fast annotations for Shopping ads.
What's Next for Merchant Center
We expect that this is yet again just the very beginning of another year of exciting changes in Google Merchant Center.
What with how the coronavirus pandemic has completely reshaped ecommerce for years to come, it will come as little surprise when Google continues to advance forward with new products, features, updates - the sky is the limit!
