Google Has Updated Policies for Showcase Shopping Ads

Notices have just started pouring in for retailers who are utilizing one of the more recent additions  to Google Shopping: Showcase Shopping Ads.

Google has announced a minor change to select governing policies about Showcase Shopping Ads.

The email reads:

"With this new policy launch for Showcase Shopping ads, we will no longer allow header images to contain overlay logos and slogans, or other overlaid text.

Please check your Showcase Shopping ad images, both expanded and collapsed, to confirm that they do not include overlay logos, slogans, text overlays, or watermarks, before October 1st, 2018. After this time, your ads may be disapproved."

Merchants can review this and all Showcase Shopping policies in Google's Advertising Policies help center.


Showcase Shopping Ads are only available within the the new Google Ads Experience.

The more important takeaway is that your Showcase Shopping Ads could go to a disapproved status if the proper measures are not taken per the October 1st enforcement date.
